WHEN
GOD’S WORD DOESN’T WORK
Teaching
by S. Marlene Gilliam
Mark 16:15-18
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel
to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he
that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that
believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with
new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing,
it shall not hurt them they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall
recover.
Matthew 28:18-20
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in
heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I
am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
God
had me write a book. - I did everything that I knew to do, BUT, GOD, THEY DIED!
WORSE QUESTIONS!
EVEN WORSE!
God, I need help!! I am desperate.
Your Word is real or it isn’t!"
My
husband warned me to watch what I was saying. He is right, I must watch my
words for my tongue has the power of life and death in it.
Proverbs
18:21: Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love
it shall eat the fruit thereof.
But, my response to him was:
He knows my heart.
My heart is to serve Him.
I have great faith, yet seem to lack
understanding in this matter.
I need to be able to be truthful and
honest with God.
He is the only one I can turn to.
He is the only one with the answers

HIS
WONDEROUS WORKS
How does a Christian get to this point?
Except that I have seen, with my own
eyes heard, with my own ears God had done, with my own hands as His
instruments, so many wonderful, miraculous things.
Not my glory, but to God’s.
I was as an instrument of the Almighty
Not by my own power or glory, but by
HIS.
Romans
14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith:
for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
Hebrews
11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that
cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that
diligently seek him.
No gray areas:
Revelation
3:15-16 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold
nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm,
and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
James 5:14-15: Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of
the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of
the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise
him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Romans
10:9-10: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and
shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and
with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
God doesn’t get glory from sickness and
disease and death! Those are Satan’s tactics. God’s Word tells us in:
Luke 10:19: Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents
and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall
by any means hurt you.
Isaiah 53:5: But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised
for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his
stripes we are healed.
Isaiah 54:17
tell us: No weapon that is formed against thee
shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment
thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their
righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
Mark 16:17-18
says: And these signs shall follow them that believe;
In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They
shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt
them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. I
believe all the gifts of the Holy Spirit and I am, absolutely, a believer. I
have cast out devils in Jesus’ Name and have had the sick recover. But, what
about when it doesn’t work? People have been saved, healed, delivered and some
have received miracles.
So, here I am,
questioning God!!!
Enemies of faith:
Spirit of Fear:
2 Timothy,
1:7: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear;
but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Jesus appeared in upper room:
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the
world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it
be afraid.
Spirit of fear is a liar, son of Satan.
Joh 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your
father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the
truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh
of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Lack of faith.
Don’t lie on
God and say that you have no faith because:
Romans 12:3: For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man
that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think;
but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure
of faith.
Strong’s # 3358 says that the
"measure" is:
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word
of God.
Romans 8:5-7: For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the
flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things
of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded
is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is
not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Heb 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them:
but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in
them that heard it.
Acts 28:27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears
are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see
with [their] eyes, and hear with [their] ears, and understand
with [their] heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
Joh 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth
nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
In the OT they didn’t have Jesus.
How were they healed?
Psalm
107:19-22 Then they cry unto the LORD in their
trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent his word, and
healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Oh that men would
praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children
of men! And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his
works with rejoicing.
Proverbs 4:20-22 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my
sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine
heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to
all their flesh.
This word, "health" is
"healing", "cure". "Medicine" if you will. We
cannot substitute our "belief in healing" for the
"Medicine" – His Word. He sent His Word and healed them.
N.T. - Jesus
Matthew
4:23-24 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in
their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all
manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. And his fame
went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were
taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with
devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he
healed them.
His fame went out before Him…they HEARD
OF THE WORD
Remember, faith cometh by hearing?
Centurion’s servant:
Matthew 8:5-13 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto
him a centurion, beseeching him, And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home
sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The
centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come
under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.
For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this
man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant,
Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them
that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not
found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And I say unto you, That many shall
come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and
Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast
out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And
his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.
Ten lepers:
Luke 17:12-19:
And as he entered into a certain village, there met
him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off: And they lifted up their
voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. And when he saw them, he
said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the
priests. And it came to pass, that, as
they went, they were cleansed. And one of them, when he saw that he was healed,
turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, And fell down on his face at
his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan. And Jesus answering said,
Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?
There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger. And he said unto him, Arise,
go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.
Issue of Blood:
Mark 5:25: And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve
years, And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that
she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, When she had heard
of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I
may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain
of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that
plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of
him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who
touched my clothes? And his disciples said unto
him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee,
and sayest thou, Who touched me? And he looked round about to see her that had
done this thing. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in
her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said
unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee
whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
But, that was Jesus!
Jesus gave disciples power!
Matthew 10:1: And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he
gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all
manner of sickness and all manner of disease.
Matthew
10:7-8: And as ye go, preach, saying, The
kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise
the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
Acts 5:15 Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets,
and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter
passing by might overshadow some of them.
Paul’s handkerchiefs – healing by
proxy
Acts 19:11-12 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So
that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons,
and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.

Lack of knowledge of Word
Why Bible out of school?
Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye
transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that
good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
We need to put on armor.
Ephesians
6:10-18 ¶ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord,
and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be
able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh
and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of
the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
{flesh...: Gr. blood and flesh} {spiritual...: or, wicked spirits} {high: or,
heavenly} Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able
to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore,
having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate
of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel
of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall
be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of
salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching
thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Do you have to be a Christian to be
healed?
James 5:14-15 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the
church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the
Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise
him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall
be forgiven him.
Examples:
Matthew 9:2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy,
lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy;
Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.
Matthew 9:5 For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or
to say, Arise, and walk?
Mark 2:5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the
palsy, Son, thy
sins be forgiven thee.
Mark 2:9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy
sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?
NOTE: Jesus is saying basically that
it’s the same….not one is easier than the other. You see, it takes the same
faith for both. If you can believe for salvation, then you can believe for
healing – same faith, same Spirit.
Luke 5:20 And
when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man,
thy sins are forgiven thee.
Luke 5:23 Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to
say, Rise up and walk?
How do we know what God’s Word says
about healing?
2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman
that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Medicine:
Now, to know what God’s Word says and
applying it may be two different things. We must "take the medicine" for
it to work. What good does it do to believe in food if you don’t eat it?
You will starve to death if you don’t eat. SO -- What good does it do to believe
a medicine will work if you don’t take it? Medicine is no good to you in
the bottle. It has to be ingested to work and God’s Word has to be ingested to
work, also.
Another point of it is that medicine is
no respecter of persons. Anyone who takes the medicine will receive it’s
benefits. It has nothing to do with the medicine’s will or not, but whether the
person will TAKE the medicine. Sometimes it takes more medicine and sometimes
it requires less. But, it is still required.
Medicine must be taken according to the prescription.
Some medicines must be taken externally. Internally might be deadly. Some must
be taken 3 times a day. Taking it less will lessen results. The internal
medicine will work if you get it inside you, just as God’s Word must get inside
your heart to work. Head knowledge is not medicine to your flesh.
Lastly, it often takes medicine time
to work. If you stop the dosage, you stop the cure. We don’t hesitate to go
get our prescriptions refilled. We can not hesitate to daily refill our
medicine found in the Scriptures.
Remember Proverbs 4:20-22 -- attend to my words; incline
thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep
them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that
find them, and health (or medicine) to all their flesh.
Can I be involved in healing someone?
John 14:12 ¶ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on
me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my
Father.
Why "because I go unto my
Father"?
John 16:7-8: Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that
I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but
if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove
the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the
Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all
things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is
come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in
all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost
and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were
oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
Yes, but I don’t have the Baptism of
the Holy Ghost
Luke 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your
children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to
them that ask him?
Jesus told you to do the work he did.
Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye
therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have
commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.
Amen.
Mark 16:15-18 And he said unto them, Go
ye into all the world, and preach the gospel
to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he
that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that
believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with
new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing,
it shall not hurt them they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall
recover.
Tongue – The Words From Your Mouth (Or
Others’ Mouths):
We should observe Ephesians 4:27 and
give NO place to the devil with our mouths.
Proverbs 18:21
¶ Death and life are in the power of the tongue:
and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof
Proverbs 21:23
¶ Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his
soul from troubles.
James 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not
his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.
James 3:5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great
things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! {a matter: or, wood}
James 3:6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the
tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire
the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
James 3:8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full
of deadly poison.
1 Peter 3:10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him
refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
Matthew 15:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that
which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.
It Is Your responsibility for what
comes out:
Psalms 34:13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
Psalms 35:28 And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy
praise all the day long.
Psalms 37:30 The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue
talketh of judgment.
Psalms 39:1 ¶ <<To the chief Musician, even to Jeduthun, A Psalm of
David.>> I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my
tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.
Isaiah 50:4 ¶ The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that
I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth
morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.
Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and
every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This
is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me,
saith the LORD.
We abuse our children with our
tongues:
What we should be saying over our
family:
So, why aren’t people healed?
Even Jesus could not work where there
was lack of faith
Mark 6:5-6: And he could there do no mighty work, save that he
laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because
of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
Shouldn’t we say If It’s God’s Will?
James 4:13-17:
Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go
into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the
morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little
time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will,
we shall live, and do this, or that. But now ye rejoice in your boastings:
all such rejoicing is evil. Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth
it not, to him it is sin.
God’s Will already given in Word
1 Peter 2:24: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree,
that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes
ye were healed.
James 5:14-15:
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of
the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of
the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord
shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
3John 1:2: Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper
and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
Matthew 10:8: Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out
devils: freely ye have received, freely
give.
Luke 9:2: And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to
heal the sick.
Luke 10:9: And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them,
The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
Let me dispell a belief about
"Have not because ask not:"
James 4:1-17 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not
hence, even of your lusts that war in your members Ye lust, and have not: ye
kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have
not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that
ye may consume it upon your lusts.
I have to make a point here. So many
people use this and say, "Well maybe I have not because I am asking amiss
because it is not God’s will." This Scripture is not talking to YOU or
about YOU or about HEALING and has NOTHING TO DO WITH GOD’S WILL IN REGARDS TO
HEALING. Read the next part of it and be set free from this myth – continue:
Ye
adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God?
whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye
think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth
to envy? But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud,
but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God.
Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw
nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye
double minded. Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be
turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight
of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. Speak not evil one of another, brethren.
He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of
the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of
the law, but a judge. There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to
destroy: who art thou that judgest another? Go to now, ye that say, To day or
to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and
sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what
is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then
vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and
do this, or that. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is
evil. Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is
sin.
Double-minded man:
James 1:5-8 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth
to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let
him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of
the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he
shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his
ways.
God doesn’t hear wicked:
Pr 15:29 ¶ The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the
prayer of the righteous.
Ps 66:18-20: If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the
voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor
his mercy from me.
Let me ask you, do you regard iniquity
in your heart? Is robbery, stealing wickedness? If you are stealing, are you
regarding iniquity in your heart? Would you consider robbing your best friend?
Your neighbor? How about GOD?
Malachi 3 talks about people who regard
wickedness in their hearts. They ROB GOD by not paying that which is due to God
– the tithe – which belongs to Him. And, in the offerings, which is given above
the tithe.
This wickedness can be forgiven, too, if
you repent. Now repent means to "turn around" and not continuing to
rob God.
Thank about it and TAKE THE MEDICINE AS
PRESCRIBED and let GOD REBUKE THE DEVOURER FOR YOU—The devourer who is eating
up your health and wealth, etc.
Joh 9:31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any
man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
You say, then how does a person get saved
if God does not hear the sinner? Well, once you apply the faith to be saved and
call upon God to save you, you become a worshipper. When you call upon God for
salvation he hears your call, not as a sinner, but as one who has come to Him
to receive salvation and become a worshipper.
Let your requests be made known:
Philippians
4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by
prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known
unto God.
God’s promises are for us:
Mt 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your
children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good
things to them that ask him?
2 Corinthians
1:20 For all the promises of God in him are yea,
and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by
us.
God does not lie:
Numbers 23:19: God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the
son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath
he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
2 Peter 3:9: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men
count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should
perish, but that ALL should come to repentance.
He said, ask and receive:
John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the
works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do;
because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that
will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask
any thing in my name, I will do it.
John 16:22-27 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again,
and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. And in that
day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye
shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye
asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
These things have I spoken unto you in proverbs: but the time cometh, when I
shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the
Father. At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I
will pray the Father for you: For the Father himself loveth you, because ye
have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
Desires of your heart:
Psalms 37:3: Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the
land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he
shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way unto the LORD;
trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy
righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
Don’t have to get to a healing
minister. Jesus provided for your healing!:
Isa 50:6 I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that
plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.
Isaiah 52:14: As many were astonied at thee; his visage was so marred more
than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:
Isaiah 53:3-5:
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows,
and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was
despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried
our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But
he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the
chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Davis Dictionary – The Roman Scourge
(Whip)
The
Illustrated Davis Dictionary of the Bible describes the scourge (whip)
the Romans used to be cords or thongs made more painful by attaching pieces of
lead or brass or small, sharp-pointed bones at the ends of the thongs. When
they swung and hit the flesh, whatever was tied in the ends of the straps would
bury into the flesh. When the whip was drawn back, the pieces had to tear
strips of flesh to get loose. Jesus took 39 of these stripes for our healing.
Criminals
were scourged before being crucified. They were stripped to the waist with
their hands behind their backs. They were strapped in a stooping position to a
pillar. The body was lacerated - so torn that their veins were laid bare and
the inner muscles and sinews, and sometimes even their bowels were exposed.
Jesus took this for us, that we would
be healed

1 Peter
2:22-24 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his
mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he
threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
{himself: or, his cause} Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the
tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose
stripes ye were healed.
Psalm
107:19-22: Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out
of their distresses. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them
from their destructions. Oh that men would praise the LORD for his
goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! And let them
sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.
